On May 16, 2019, the Western District Bar Association is hosting its Annual Meeting. This year, we will focus our meeting on Women in the Courtroom. To that end, Judge Shira Scheindlin (Ret. S.D.N.Y.) will be our keynote speaker for lunch. Judge Scheindlin recently worked with the New York State Bar Association on a study looking at women’s participation in court and will speak about how we can all increase the participation of women in the courtroom. Following lunch, we will have a panel discussion, moderated by Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn, on challenges and opportunities for women in the courtroom. We will round out our CLE program with a discussion of current legal issues in gender discrimination and the always popular clerk of court’s report. We hope that this topic will be of interest to everyone.
